My name is Francesco Paliferi, and I am the founder of Alter Roads. From an early age, I fell in love with cycling a passion ignited by my grandfather's stories of old champions and simple beauty. I started with short rides around my family's summer home, and as the years went by, my journeys grew longer, taking me through Italy, France, Spain, and Greece.

Through these travels, I discovered that the most beautiful moments happen far from the tourist routes. It's in the simple things: getting lost on a country lane, sharing a meal with a local family, or stopping for a chat in a small-town café. These are the moments that truly define a journey and connect us to the world.

Why Alter Roads Was Born

My experiences led me to a simple truth: there is no better way to travel than by bicycle. Cycling allows you to explore a region at a human scale, to savor its true flavors, and to get to know the people who live there.

With this in mind, I founded Alter Roads a project that combines my love for guiding with my passion for cycling. It's a chance to share the beauty of places hidden from the masses and to help others give the right meaning to their journey.
